Over 1000 people sensitised on HIV/AIDS on February 11, 2008
[simage=1153,200,y,left]As Cameroonians celebrated the11th of February 2008 as the youth day, HINT, HINT HED, Elizabeth Embry and Rachelle Clune, both volunteers from the U.S.A used the occasion to sensitize the youths on the dangers of STD’S and AIDS.
Over 1000 people were sensitized and a good number went home with flyers, male and female condoms and sound education on living a life free of HIV and aids.
HINT was particularly impressed and calls you today to be part of the team to say no to premarital sex as we kick aids out of our community. The HINT members could be seen from all directions in red t-shirts putting sticker (the cross ribbon) on the chest of many sign for a world free of aids.
Medical Outreach 2008
In February 2008, Rachelle Lynn Clune and Elizabeth Rhea Embry, both nurses in the United States of America (USA), will visit Helps International (HINT), an NGO located in Buea, South West Province of Cameroon in Sub-Sahara Africa.
During their time here, they will take part in a medical outreach program planned to take place in 2 rural communities: Ekona and Tole.
The outreaches are intended to:
- Sensitize these communities on the HIV/AIDS pandemic
- Train HIV Educators in these communities
- Educate the public (esp. youths) on sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Train community members on various aspects of basic hygiene.
- Offer free consultations and free medication.
Rachelle & Beth need US$ 3,425.97 (excluding their flights to Cameroon and back) to be able to reach these rural villages with this life-saving information, training and resources.
